Facilities Technician

Your mission
Primary Assignment– Electrical / Mechanical / Plumbing Systems Maintenance.
  • Inspecting the data centre major equipment daily.
  • Caring out inspection and basic Air conditioner maintenance on Split, CRAC and Indirect Adiabatic Air conditioner units 
  • Carrying out basic preventative mechanical and/or electrical maintenance.
  • Troubleshooting various facility systems systematically
  • Working directly with contractors until assignments are satisfactorily completed.
  • Troubleshooting to diagnose mechanical and/or electrical system failures and working with contractors to quickly resolve or mitigate interruption in services in a quick and effective way.
  • Performing weekly generator testing.
  • Performing weekly power system audits.
  • Minor maintenance of Facility infrastructure  

Secondary Assignment – Support Services.
  • Supporting NOC Monitoring when needed    
  • Coordinating all new device installations in Data Hall.
  • Answering phones and responding to customer requests.
  • Preparing server cabinet space for power, ethernet and cooling.
  • Responding to Raxio NOC & customer tickets.
  • Troubleshooting client colocation equipment.
  • Working with Datacoms team.
  • Performing tape swaps and reboots for customers at request upon request.
  • Responding to and escalating equipment alarms.
  • Maintaining adequate supply levels for Ethernet patch cables, power cables, power bars, and other tools etc.
  • Ensuring all visitors to the RAXIO Data Centre follow all health and safety regulations and protocols.


Your profile
Minimum Education
  • Graduation from a trade school or recent apprenticeship in a mechanical/electrical trade or equivalent experience.

Preferred Education
  • Certification or degree in mechanical/electrical engineering

Expected Experience 
  • 2-3 years of working experience with electrical / mechanical systems 
  • Experience in practical air conditioner service and maintenance is mandatory.
  • Experience in data centre operations is preferred. Knowledge is required.
  • Must be available for emergency on-call and shift work predominantly during the night and over the weekends.
  • Basic knowledge of power systems (UPS’, RPPs, PDUs) cooling systems (HVACs, airflow dynamics)
  • Working knowledge of pumps, compressors, boilers, chillers, facility HVAC systems is necessary.
  • Working knowledge of UPS systems and associated switchgear.
  • Working knowledge of standby generator systems and associated switch gear.
  • Working knowledge of sprinkler systems/fire alarms systems testing, building management systems.
