Your mission
• Complying with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and company directives related to building operations and work safety.
• Installing, terminating, testing, labeling and documenting horizontal, backbone & other cables.
• Building out telecom and equipment rooms.
• Supervising external vendors to ensure the regulations and operational procedures are followed.
• Overseeing and inspecting the cabling work performed by outside contractors.
• Testing, troubleshooting, & documenting test results for cabling.
• Reviewing and updating network drawings and documentation.
• Responding quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.
• Managing an equipment life cycle and testing program.
• Managing the Building Management System (monitoring availability of the data centre technical infrastructure).
• Instantly solving deviations, alarms and incidents.
• Managing the data hall floor space with realization of operational custom changes (e.g. connecting power racks, etc.).
• Monitoring and reporting power consumption and proactively sending overruns.
• Managing the annual maintenance and management plans (e.g. end of life, major changes, etc.).
• Managing the corrective and preventive maintenance; incident- and safety (work, people) reports.
• Providing and overseeing maintenance planning with the facility engineers.
• Providing scripts and risk analyses for planned maintenance work (risk management).
• Deploying, test and label copper, coax and fibre cables and patch cords connecting data centre customer and infrastructure.
• Installing and decommissioning data centre infrastructure components (e.g. cabinets/racks, ladder racks, fibre ducts, cages, cables – nonelectrical, etc.)
• Troubleshooting, test and repair copper, coax and fibre connectivity for continuity and loss using industry standard testing tools and methods.
• Assisting the facility teams, project managers, service management team and customers to complete projects and tickets.
• Managing build materials (e.g. copper/fibre patch cords, server cabinets, cable ties, ladder racks, fibre ducts).
• Maintaining documentation of network infrastructure up to date in the Configuration Management Data Base (CMDB)
• Disposing of project material residues.
• Managing workload in ticketing systems.
• Adhering to existing data centre installation best practices.
